Sighthill Entrances

Sighthill Entrances , Sighthill, Edinburgh

  • Client: Edinburgh Napier University
  • Summary: New Front and Rear Entrances
  • Location: Sighthill, Edinburgh

The project consisted of altering three main entrances to the Sighthill Campus. The problem was similar to that at Merchiston Campus, which related to areas being cold and draughty during busy times. The car park entrance was designed in such a way it turned from the prevailing wind at the same time giving access and egress from the escape route behind. The theme of existing materials was continued to ensure that these interventions were in keeping and unobtrusive. The revolving doors were made as large as possible and fitted nicely into the existing portals to the front and café level entrances. Careful consideration was given to access for disabled to these areas.
